    Hey everybody!

There's something so timeless, classic, and fancy about gold and ivory wedding colors. Chelsea did an amazing job planning her wedding, as she thought of every detail of her wedding and made it memorable. She had the wedding at her parents' home in Fayetteville, and as her dad told me on the wedding day, it really was the perfect location for their intimate, private wedding and reception.

You'll notice that today is only the details of the wedding... we haven't even got to the reception yet! And let me just tell you... jaws might drop.

Vera Wang Dress and shoes are always a WIN! The groom's ring was inscribed with "I Love You" and the wedding date, and the brides ring was all kinds of beautiful.

Okay, let me tell you about something CLEVER and THOUGHTFUL in this shot: Tyler asked a bridesmaid to put Chelsea's gift near her dress so when she went to put it on for the wedding she'd be surprised. And surprised she was!! I would be to if I had just been given a VINTAGE Chanel Lariat. Are you kidding me? That's SUCH an amazing gift! He also did a great job of displaying it with the vintage Chanel box and display bust. It's all in the details, friends!

    The bridemaids bouquets looked beautiful.

The setup for the ceremony was in her parents' cleared-out living room. The huge windows were stunning and since we visited the site a couple months before the ceremony we were able to advise Chelsea to get lighting on the couple for the actual ceremony. She did, and it was just perfect!
Weddings at homes are so fun, especially when they're as gorgeous as this! I could shoot 50 weddings here and never shoot the same shot twice. It was so full of beauty!

Okay, now head over to Custom Wedding Invitation designer Sincerely Yours' blog for some more details from this gorgeous wedding ceremony!

And come back tomorrow when I share the reception details!

    Talk to you soon,
    Dale

    Hey everybody!

Man, oh man... I've got some dream wedding reception details to share today! This fancy gold and ivory wedding is pretty to-die-for, and I've been dying to share it! Alas... the wait is over.

I love the gold accents everywhere. Is it called "silverware" if it's gold? Can I call it "goldware?" haha! How about, gold eating utensils. There ya go.
So, this is what the table settings were like. Gold and ivory was plentiful not just in the eating utensils, but the menu (created by Sincerely Yours), the embroidered cloth napkins, and even the plates and rims of the glasses. Ooh la la!

    gold
As I stepped back and looked at the reception, this is what I saw. I love the huge flower arrangements that adorned the tablescapes. Just breathtaking, right?!
    gold
Here's a closer shot of the table settings. Again, it's such a classy statement to have this gold and ivory combination, and totally timeless!

Tell me that cake isn't rockin'! How can something be simple and complex at the same time? The gold accents on the cake are so metiulous! Wowabunga. Yeah, I just made up a new word.
    gold
This is the vintage, restored Mercedes that was to serve as the bride and groom's getaway car. I wanted to take it home with me, but I'm pretty sure I'd stand out with a car like this.

James Beard nominated chef Miles James prepared the mouth-watering dinner for the guests. Here's a sample of the spread. Dear Benny brides: please use James at the Mill for your wedding if you want a really happy photographer! :)

And then more food shots, with the chef himself preparing food for the evening reception.

How cute is this idea?! The bride and groom had some signature drinks on hand with their own corresponding napkins (with recipes!!). Thoughtful, creative, delicious!
    gold

As I said before, it was an intimate and private wedding. It was also black tie, which I enjoyed, since I figured out how to tie a bow tie! 2 points for me!
    gold
Lastly, speaking of bow ties... Tyler's groomscake was a Razorback (Go Hogs!), but since it was black tie, our little hog needed some formal attire. Done and done!

Okay... how was THAT for a scene-setting blog post?! Tomorrow I'm going to share the story of Chelsea and Tyler's wedding. Yay!

    Hey everybody!

For some reason, I just can't narrow down images from Chelsea and Tyler's Fayetteville wedding. Oh wait, I know the reason... they're gorgeous, their details were fabulous, and the day was filled with such sweet moments. Okay, so that was three reasons... does that mean I can show three times as many images? :)

How to-die-for is her custom Vera Wang gown (yowza!)??! And Chelsea holding her bridal bouquet is just fabulous, right?!
Bride getting ready in custom Vera Wang gown and holding bouquet

So, I'm not gonna lie... I LOOOOOVE fun wedding parties! I have known most of these bridesmaids for years from other weddings, and the guys are a hoot! And they're all pretty easy on the eyes!
classy and fun wedding party shot outdoors with the sun shining in

Yeah... the bride and her bridesmaids are pretty Kardashian-esque. Wouldn't you agree? Sexy and sassy bridesmaids pics are the best! :)
fun and sassy bridesmaids with the gorgeous bride

Okay. Now. How SWEET is this moment?! The ring bearer and flower girl are holding hands! My heart just melted.
ring bearer and flower girl walking down the aisle holding hands

Mere was upstairs getting all artsy during the ceremony. I love this shot of the bride's dad about to give her away.
creative ceremony shot through a fancy mirror as the bride's father gives her away

I was so happy the we went to the bride's house a weeks before the wedding so we could plan the lighting. We were able to balance out the outdoor backlight with a couple spotlights that really make them stand out. It TOTALLY makes this shot! Yay for first kisses as husband and wife!!
first kiss as husband and wife

As we stepped outside after the ceremony, I captured this great candid shot (yeah, I know it looks like a portrait!!!) with the vintage restored Mercedes in the background. Perfection.
celebratory kiss as husband in front of a vintage restored Mercedes

Then it was time to celebrate with the girls! They all signed a bottle of Dom Perignon and then had a celebratory glass. Isn't that such a neat idea for the bride to have as a keepsake from her wedding? Uh, YEAH!
bridesmaids and bride celebrating with a signed bottle of Dom Perignon

I love tight dance shots because they show the emotion the couple is feeling. Tyler and Chelsea are great dancers, by the way.
Chelsea Slone and Tyler Brown's first dance as husband and wife

So, I just had to include this one. Her bridesmaids were SO fun. This is what I FELT like doing when I saw the yummy James at the Mill food, but these girls actually DID it. :)
silly bridesmaids enjoying James at the Mill catering

Then the father daughter dance took place as the sun finished setting. I love this image. It says so much about the close relationship Chelsea has with her dad. I can't look at this without a ginormous smile.
bride hugging her father as they finish the father daughter dance

Chelsea and Tyler's cake was super cool - I loved all the gold details on the cake - super fancy (and super tasty)
bride and groom cutting their ivory and gold detailed wedding cake from Rick's Bakery

I put this one in because I adore Chelsea's face as Tyler feeds his bride wedding cake.
gorgeous bride and handsome groom enjoying their Rick's bakery wedding cake

I couldn't decide which bouquet-catching shot I liked more, so I put them together to tell the whole story. How fun!

How many cool things are there about this image: Chelsea's reaction, the anticipation in the background, oh and the super cool lighting (thank you very much).
the groom flings his brides garter and the ring bearer caught it

Then it was time to boogie down to the live band. Gettin' funky.
wedding party fun dance pictures during the reception

The wedding party had such a fun time on the dancefloor!

Finally, it was time to leave (sad face!). The bride and groom ran through sparklers and I swear I didn't pose them at the end... they're just THAT good! All I do is push a little button. Well, that and frame the subjects, set my camera, add external lighting, all while walking backward. But other than that... just pushing a button! :)

We're ending Chelsea and Tyler's amazing wedding week tomorrow with some portraits that are heart thumpingly pretty.

    Hey everybody!

When Meredith and I were pulling away from Chelsea and Tyler's wedding, she mentioned something about a "Celebrity Wedding" to which I responded... I could be a celebrity wedding photographer. :) It kind of felt like a celebrity wedding... maybe it was the exclusive guest list, maybe it was the black tie, maybe it was all the amazing gold and ivory wedding details, or maybe it's because our bride and groom seriously look like movie stars. Regardless, if you're a celebrity who is recently engaged, and you want fabulous portraits (because I've seen some DREADFUL celebrity wedding portraits lately), hit me up! Here's my home number: 417-437-9414. Haha... let's see who calls. :)

    Okay, enough blabby... more showy.

How about sunset, backlit flowers, and a gorgeous couple showing how much they're in love. Yes, please.

    Here's Mere's shot. She's magical.

So many things to love about this shot.

Okay, see what I mean by celebrity wedding couple? Have you seen two people who look more like they could be famous movies stars?

This one involved some fancy pants lighting. It was actually take about the same time the first shot (sunset/backlit flowers) was taken, but by manipulating the light I got this cool shot.

What a great one to end on... walking away with the reception setup in the background. See, I told you there would be swooning!

    Hey everybody!
I love when I get to know when a girl is going to get engaged before she does. ;)
The most difficult thing for Tyler, I think, was surprising Kady. You see, she had an idea that a wedding was coming... I know this because they've already booked us for their May wedding. So, every time Tyler took Kady to dinner over the last two months, I imagine something like this went on in Kady's head:
"Is this it? I think this is it! OMG, this is it! Tonight's the night!" Hahahaha!! But where's the surprise in that?
So, Tyler figured out a way to throw her guard off - he proposed to Kady at her hospital! As she was getting off work last week, there he was as she stepped of the elevator... flowers in hand... on bended knee... with a ring. Guys can be quite romantic!

    Hey everybody!

One blog that I LOVE to read for all things wedding and Southern is the Southern Aisle blog! Lauren is super duper sweet and has impeccable taste. Plus, she doesn't just post anything that gets sent to her, so getting published on her blog is definitely to be celebrated!

She recently featured the 1/2 Arkansas and 1/2 Oak Alley Plantation engagement shoot we did for our sweetheart couple Jamie and Ben. Click on the pic below to go read what she wrote about it (and to see the images!).

    Hey everybody!!

Today we have a huge announcement: The Shoot Your Kids Workshop is going on tour!!!

In August we decided not to take weddings the 6th-26th (it's SO hot in Arkansas, right?!) and instead use that time to teach camera/photography lessons to Moms with Cameras (mwacs) all over the US! Doesn't that sound super fun?

So... starting TODAY, moms can sign up for the Shoot Your Kids workshop if you live in/near one of the cities listed below.

Or, if you wanna check out the Shoot Your Kids workshop website, head here: http://shootyourkidsworkshop.com

Lastly, if you know someone who might be interested in this camera settings and composition workshop (with a dash of photoshop and other awesomeness), I'd love for you to BLOG ABOUT US, FORWARD THIS, or SPREAD THE LOVE in some other way! Maybe even tweet about us or put us in a Facebook post. I'd love you for ever, and definitely be your best friend!

    Hey everybody!

I told you I had a big announcement! We're going to have a baby!! Woohooo!!! As wedding photographers, it's really a tricky thing since our schedule books up more than a year in advance. We knew that if we were going to have a baby, it better be late December through early March. Well, we suceeded! Meredith is due 5-6 weeks after our last wedding of 2012 and 6 weeks before her first wedding of 2013. God is good! He has good timing, and has blessed us bigtime!!

I'm so excited to have a baby with Meredith. I'm excited to see her face when she says her baby for the first time. She's going to be such a caring and nurturing mother.

I asked Mere and Ellie to say a couple things for the blog, and this is what I coaxed out of them.

    Mere would like to say:
I'm feeling mostly fabulous and very sleepy with some crazy dreams and vomit mixed in sporadically. Praying for a healthy, extremely good-looking baby! :)

    Ellie would like to say:
"I'm excited! I want it to be a girl so that I can teach it girly things like how to braid."

She also said she wanted to teach the baby to read, and promised to read a book to the baby every day. I thought that was pretty sweet!

Feel free to leave us some comment lovin' below! I know Mere LOOOOVES reading fb comments (oh, and Ellie does too!)

    Hey everybody!

I've got a great wedding to start sharing with y'all today! Andrea and Ofir's Tulsa wedding had such a great color palette of pinks, greens, and yellows. She carried the colors throughout the day (and the reception at the Tulsa Country Club), which made for a cohesive look and feel to the gorgeous wedding day.

First, I never start with anything but the detail collage, but I have to show how supermodel gorgeous the flowergirl was. Oh. Mah. Gahhh. Does your heart melt?

    The gentlemen were quite dapper...

Such a great wedding at Sharpe Chapel on the Tulsa University campus and reception at the Tulsa Country Club! Andrea and Ofir's pink, yellow, and green wedding details we saw yesterday on the blog set the scene for a really perfect day for a wedding. Today I get to share some storytelling photos from Andrea's wedding.

Both sides of the wedding party were SO fun! You'll see more in a bit, but here's an intro... Andrea's entire family is gorge! Here she is with her sisters, and Ofir and the groomsmen had style.

    Hey everybody!

We had three different opportunities to photograph our lovely bride in groom (I LOOOVE that!) on their wedding day: where they had their first meeting, at Sharpe Chapel on the University of Tulsa campus, and at the Tulsa Country Club. I've picked a few of my favorites and put them below. Also, I want to add couple from Andrea's bridal portraits at Philbrook Museum in Tulsa (SUCH a gorgeous setting for bridal portraits!). Enjoy!

I love the blurred Tulsa skyline in the background!

    Hey everybody!

I'm in love with this wedding. It's such a perfect example of a rustic outdoor wedding. Lauren and Jessica did a masterful job of capturing these rustic details...

What a cool bridal bouquet - perfect for her rustic outdoor wedding!

This is my favorite shot of the day! How fun are these bridal party girls with their stick-on mustaches?! Just perfect!

    Um... heartbreakers!!

Evan and Carissa were both a little emotional for their first meeting, which I LOOOOVE.

    Sweet outdoor wedding...

Love the mood here! What a great way to end the night!

    More from their wedding tomorrow!

    Hey everybody!

A great thing about photographing weddings at Marlsgate Plantation is that I know the lighting and location are going to be fabulous.  This feature-worthy wedding was at Marlsgate, so see for yourself!  These lavender, purple, and champagne colored details are to-die-for.

Here's one of my favorite ever dress shots - and Brooke's rosy champagne colored wedding dress is really breathtaking (especially with her super tan skin tone!).  Oh, and it was a perfect pairing with these Badgely Mischka wedding shoes.

Here we have a close up of both the bride's and bridesmaids' dresses, and their bouquets.  I love how they coordinate...

How cute are these wedding favors the bride and groom had for their guests?!  The honey jar had the cutest personalized packaging and worked well with the outdoor wedding and reception.

Tomorrow, I'm going to post my favorite moments from the wedding.

Ooohhh... isn't the lighting fabulous here? (thank you very much!) :)  And how much of a hottie is Brooke?! If you didn't notice... she changed dresses into her mother's wedding dress. I love love LOVE a short dress!

    Hey everybody!

One of the sweetest souls I know just got married! My Art Feeds friend, Brooke, whom I've traveled the world with (literally... we were in Ghana together!), is such a fun and funky girl, that when it came time for her bridal portraits, we were all kinds of inspired! To add to her awesomeness, Brooke is also an amazing dancer, which seems to make her a natural at posing for my camera.

There are few girls who could pull off the locations we took her for her bridals. First up, a laundromat. Why not?! It was cute and funky, just like the bride.

Then, we went to her former house (that was leveled by the Joplin tornado on May 22nd). She embraced the shoot and turned it into extraordinary. Take a look...

Ellie has QUITE the dancing fever! She's been performing all over the place, taking dance classes and camps, and you remember from this post that she even choreographs her own dances for fun. That kid!

Here's one of her recent performances at 3rd Thursday in downtown Joplin. They set up a dance floor in the street and away they went!

    Hey everybody!

I love that new Powershot commercial - I totally dig their slogan, "Power of a Shot." That's what today's post is all about.

I got a super sweet email from our friend, Elizabeth, whose grandparents won a contest on our blog four years ago for Valentine's Day. It was a super sweet message and wanted to share it with you.

I love this because it really demonstrates the power of pictures. I think it hit me particularly hard because Meredith's grandpa just passed away a week ago. :( I was happy to see that for Mere's grandpa's funeral, the family had a ton of pictures from his life.

    from Elizabeth:
I just wanted to say on behalf of my whole family thank you. About a week and a half ago my grandfather (Bob'O) passed away. As my family was figuring out how to best celebrate him and all that he meant to us we remembered that you had them write their love story as part of the contest they won back then. We actually had someone retell it at his funeral, but we also realized that the pictures you guys took were the last pictures we had of the both of them healthy.
