Happy Birthday to Mere!

Hey everybody!

As a wedding photographer, I truly value the institution of marriage. When my first marriage a bazillion years ago didn't work out, I realized that people grow, change, and become new people. I learned a lot about myself and about the kind of partner I needed in life.

I prayed. Hard.

I prayed that God would put the right person in my life that I could grow WITH, change WITH, and become a new person WITH. I prayed that God would deliver to me a partner that would accept and embrace Ellie like she deserves. I was hoping for someone who makes me a better person, who pushes and challenges me, but sometimes lets me win.

Who knew God took EVERY request to heart. And on top of that, she's crazy pretty. She's a wonderful aunt, and an amazing mother. Not "amazing: like the watered-down version they use on the bachelor, where EVERYTHING is amazing. I'm talking about the kind of amazing that kind of SHAKES you up and you just have to stare in awe. She's the kind of mom that's nurturing but encourages independence, she's loving and thoughtful, she's a teacher, and so much more.

Today is my pretty bride's birthday. Photographers rarely have their pictures taken, so here's an iphone pic of us :)

Alana and Paul's Fall Fayetteville Engagements

Hey everybody!

When a bride-to-be brings an adorable bundle of homemade gourmet cookies to greet me at a shoot, I know I'm in for a good afternoon!  Alana has all sorts of skills, so obviously Paul is a smart cookie (pun intended) to lock this relationship down!

Alana sent me her polyvore (LOVE that site) that showed her outfits so we could plan the perfect locations for her engagement shoot, and since the leaves started turning their amazing fall colors, it was pretty easy to find the perfect spots!  Look at the color and light!

Aren't they fab?  I'm so excited for their wedding (especially if there are more baked goods in store... hahaha!).

Family Portraits with Twins: The Jewell Family!

Hey everybody!

Remember this couple?

Seth and Chelsea are one of my all-time favorite couples! Definitely top 5, maybe 3! :) Not only are they SUPER fun (make sure to see the video at the bottom of this post), they are genuine and sweet. They CARE about people. They are GOOD people. I love me some good people.

One of the biggest compliments a couple can give me is that they want me to shoot their family after the wedding, whether it be 1, 2, 5, or 10 years later. I'm obviously not going anywhere!

Fast forward... Seth and Chelsea have twins! Yay! One boy, one girl! I'm in awe of this sweet little family!

And now for your listening pleasure, here's a video from Seth and Chelsea's wedding where Seth sang a song her wrote for his bride:

Wedding at St. Anthony's on the Creek of Megan and Christian

Hey everybody!

How is this the first wedding we've ever shot at St. Anthony's on the Creek? Such a pretty location! Megan and Christian's wedding was full of fun fall festivities! Just look at her detail collage:

Mere has such good composition! Love this shot: simple and perfect.

Rachel photographed this one... I love the interest with all the hands coming in to assist with the dress. So cool.

Then it was time to go get married! What a nice daddy/daughter moment.

Okay... now... LOOK at this chapel. So pretty!

Claudia Slezak (one of our most favorite people on Earth) helped to coordinate all the details with this wedding and reception. She always does a great job! Look at these details! Yay!

I'm not sure what Christian said to Megan during the first dance, but I'm glad I had my shooting-finger ready!

Another Mere shot. This shot captured the leave perfectly.

Lastly, here's a little sneak peek of what's coming tomorrow!

Hey everybody!

There were so many pretty spots for wedding portraits at St. Anthony's on the creek. Even though we didn't have but a few minutes, the location and the couple rocked it so we were able to get some pretties!

Engagement Portraits at the Old Mill in Little Rock

Hey everybody!

One of the downsides to being so busy (don't worry, I'm not complaining), is that I can't be available for every bride's date. It makes me happy, though, when brides-to-be still want us to photograph their engagement portraits (and bridals!). Andrea is such a sweetie, and REALLY easy to photograph! Here are some we shot at the Old Mill in Little Rock.

Outdoor Home Wedding of Jade and Jon

Hey everybody!

When Meredith and I met Jon and Jade at their future home for their engagements, we left thinking 1) that was a great shoot, and 2) they sure have a lot of work to do if they're wanting their wedding to be here!  We were blown away at the progress, and by how cool the house is!  It made a perfect backdrop for their wedding!

Our buddy Bo (like his page on facebook!) rocked Jade's makeup! Such a vision!

Sexy little bride is right!  :)

Jade arrived by carriage to meet her groom for the first look.  The weather was cooperating, so I'm glad we were able to do this before the ceremony!

Then we were able to shoot their fabulous wedding portraits - I LOVE this one!  (more of these tomorrow!)

Oh my word.  How cute is this little dude?  Melt my heart!

I love when guests throw petals while the couple comes back up the aisle! Such a fun shot!

More fun heading your way tomorrow on the blog!

Hey everybody!

I have a 2nd detail collage from Jade's wedding because there were so many great details I couldn't narrow! Amy at Details Weddings and Events pulled off a masterful job in crazy circumstances (the weather decided to play tricks on us!) and the whole thing was just beautiful!

And then one of my faves...

That shot looked a lot like this one... hahaha! Cool right?

Hey everybody!

A bride in a big field of yellow flowers?  Sounds kind of amazing!  Well, it WAS! I felt like I was in photographer heaven. Oh, and the bride was the super gorgeous Jade! Overload!

Mere didn't get to come with me on this bridal session, which means my bug-magnet wasn't there.  Yeah, these shots were totally worth getting eaten alive!

Definitely one of my favorite sessions of 2013!

Hey everybody!

I'm crazy about fall! You know how the really good chefs use what is local and natural to create a yummy menu?  I feel like that's what we do with our engagement sessions.  Alex and Trevor picked such a perfectly gorgeous time to get engagement portraits taken with all the fall leaves in Fayetteville!

Hey everybody!

It makes my day to make someone's day. After I posted yesterday, Alex sent me the SWEETEST text message! I felt like I was on cloud 9 the rest of the afternoon!  Maybe we can have a repeat performance today!  After all, I have a lot more pretty shots from her Fall engagement session today! They're such a sweet couple, and totally in love, so it was my hope to capture that in a pretty way!  Have a look at what we created!  Yay!

Hey everybody!

I can't remember the first time I met Mary, maybe Kelli and Beau's wedding? But that's not to say she's forgettable... anything but!! She has such a fun personality and I always love when she's at our weddings! She even coordinated one of my very favorite weddings, Ashley and Matt's wedding! So, she signed up for one of our Little Rock Mini-Sessions - I was SUPER excited - and she and Brandon were such an easy couple to photograph!

Hey everybody!

Tabrina was one of my best friends in high school, and now we're all grown up! We both have two kids! Can that be possible? I recently met up with her in Dallas for a quick and easy family session with her two boys, who had me feeling like a kid again! Check these out:

This first shot might be my all-time favorite brother shot! Cool light, bg, and expressions.

Megan and Ricky's Dallas Engagement Portraits

Hey everybody!

I was heartbroken when we couldn't photograph Megan and Ricky's wedding, especially because they're getting married at Meredith and my favorite place (well, maybe besides Paris): Excellence in Playa Mujeres! Ahhhh!  I was super stoked to photograph her engagement portraits in Dallas, however! She and Ricky are great! Up for pretty much anything (there was a chance of rain, which didn't phase them a bit)!  Here are some of my favorites:

LOVE THIS COLOR!!

Hey everybody!

Mere had a few minutes to spare recently (when does that happen!?) and grabbed her nieces and ran out for a few quick cute pics!  These two girls are SO fun, as different as two kiddos could be, but are unique and amazing.  I love when they come over to play, jam on the piano, or entertain Cece!  They're great cousins!

Michelle and Cam's NOLA Wedding Preview: The shot that almost didn't happen

Hey everybody!

Wedding days can be a bit stressful when it comes to staying on schedule, obeying the sunlight as our boss, and being creative... all while having fun!  This is one of the reasons why Meredith and I feel we're great at our jobs as wedding photographers.

When Cam suggested we shoot a few more wedding portraits at Jackson Square in the heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans, I was SO in!  As we boarded the limo, I let the driver know that the sun was going to set in 20 minutes.  I think Cam's ER Doc mode kicked in because he got a little frantic about the sunlight, traffic, and timing.  He suggested a few times that we just turn around and head back.  But I assured him... if I even have 1 minute, this is all going to be worth it.

It was worth it.  I LOVE this shot.

Thanks for trusting me, Cam and Michelle!  I can't wait to share your wedding with you on the blog for the next few days! :)

New Orleans Wedding at New Orleans Audubon Zoo

Hey everybody!

When Michelle contacted me about her New Orleans wedding, I remember my brain spun into a fun and frantic crazy mode... I was super excited because 1) I love New Orleans (have you had the food there?! Um, yeah.) and 2) I'd never photographed a wedding there before (and I just LOVE shooting new places!).  While we had originally scheduled that weekend off for Mere's birthday, Mere said we could shoot it! I was over the moon!  And so was Michelle!
We've become good friends over the past few months and Mere and I are so happy that we were able to not only shoot her wedding, but also share her day with her and Cam! Enough of the sap, let's get on to some details, shall we?

Kate Spade shoes with glitter heels. Yep. But wait... there's more... teal cowgirl boots for the reception. Atta girl! Just look at all her pretty details!

Pretty sure my heart melted when I laid eyes on this sweet babe. He was the honorary ring bearer.

These guys were pretty hilarious. All.day.long.  You'll see (keep scrolling!).

The Tea Room garden at the NOLA Audubon Zoo was GORGEOUS - such a neat venue for a wedding!

It was an interesting and tricky dynamic with the lighting, but some quick thinking on m'feet and we get this dreamy little number.  I love how happy both Michelle and her father look here!

These guys.

The entire wedding party was a total blast.

Okay one more for today... me with the bride!  Yay!

Reception coming your way tomorrow!

Wedding Reception at Tea Room at NOLA Audubon Zoo

Hey everybody!

Cam and Michelle's reception had my two favorite things: 1) amazing food (see the bananas foster station!) and 2) beautiful details.  One of our favorites was Michelle and Cam's program in the collage below.  Cool right?

This to me is what weddings are all about.  Real moments.  I adore this first dance shot.

Cam showed some emotion too during his dance with his mom. Michelle and her dad were all smiles (no surprise there - her dad smiled and laughed the entire day!).

One of our favorite people, Tressa, was a guest too!  She's always a hoot! (ahem... prediction... she'll be a Benny bride! heehee!)

Cam was impressive on the dancefloor.

Brides... check this out. Michelle and Cam had multiple cakes, spelling out her new last name: M-O-S-L-E-Y. So fun!

Oh look, Tressa even caught the bouquet.  She' was pretty jazzed about that. :)

Second Line time!  The masks were great!

Every now and then I show a my-shot/mere's-shot.  Here we go. My shot...

Mere's shot.  A great thing about having us photograph your wedding is that you get two artist's unique views for your wedding! How cool is that?!  Love Mere's shot here.

Some pretty NOLA wedding portraits are hitting the blog tomorrow!

NOLA Wedding Portraits of Cam and Michelle

Hey everybody!

New Orleans is a dream of a city to photograph! Throw in my gorgeous couple, and I'm in photographer heaven!
When I take a picture of a couple that I'm proud of, I always put myself in their mindset, imagining them saying, "wow... we have this image of us forever." It is such a reward for what we do to know that our clients think of our art as their prized possessions.

Michelle and Cam totally killed it.  Amazing job, you two!

Love the mood and light here!

This one really gets me.  The shot on the right is exactly how I see Michelle and Cam - I was so happy I was able to catch them being themselves!

This was actually taken during their first look, believe it or not.  Pretty much everything these two do together is photo worthy!

Two.Amazing.Locations. LOVE NOLA!

Let's end these posts the way we started--with this super pretty image.
