Tressa's Southern Plantation Bridals at Autumn Ridge

Hey everybody!

Rachel and Mere knocked this one out of the park, y'all. Normally I am the photographer for our bridal sessions but I had to be out of town for Tressa's rescheduled shoot (all that snow and rain has been crazy!). I knew she'd be in great hands, but these are just insane! Tressa's dress is such a showstopper (no surprise there!) and Autumn Ridge was the perfect location for this Southern Bride! Here are some favorites...

Ellie Latest Fashion Shoot in Vogue Tie-dye Graphic Tee

Hey everybody!

Y'all want a good way to spend a Sunday afternoon? Click on this link of blog posts about Ellie and watch this kid grow up before your very eyes. I have a love affair with this blog for that very reason While my memories fade and I forget some of the details of her childhood, I can come back here and remember. The latest shoot we did of Ellie recently reminds me of how fast she is growing; we did a little fashion shoot wearing a shirt Ellie recently tie-dyed during a fun craft day (thanks to Bonnie for the shirt!), and thanks to Riffraff for the sunnies and bangles.

Ellie's been helping me some lately with my photoshop edits. I thought it was only right that she got to play round with some of her own images... the next two she did...

Happy 4th Anniversary to Mere and Me!

Hey everybody!

Today marks 4 years since Meredith and I (and Ellie) were in Florence, Italy, at the Four Seasons reciting our vows.

Man, a LOT has happened during this last 4 years.  Some were amazing, like the birth of our sweet baby Cece. Some were hard, like cancer scares.

Marriage is hard, and takes a lot of work. I grew up with a weird perspective on marriage, and didn't really get what it was all about. Meredith has shown me what being married means, and I'm so thankful for that. She makes life way more fun, and having her on my team makes me feel like I have an unfair advantage in life. I love her, and I love my little family.

I was looking through pictures of Mere and me to post here, but then I got into Mere's iPhone backup on the cloud and found these, and thought they were way more fun... I love a girl who can be silly, and then switch and be super hot... just like that. :)

Happy 4th anniversary, Boo.

Tressa and Ben's Wedding Details (***plus a sneak peek)

Hey everybody!

The biggest arrangements I've ever photographed...
Not one fabulous pair of shoes... or two... but three...
The most darling brooch bouquets...
And a Galia Lahav wedding dress with hanging strings of pearls...

Y'all, I'm obsessed with Tressa and Ben's wedding details. Obsessed. It makes me wanna get married again!

These shoes are EVERYTHING.

Even the flower girls had brooch bouquets.  LOVE!

I can't say enough about this amazing dress.  One of my all-time favorites!!

Look... a cake taller than I am.  What a statement!

Yeah. Dom. Rose. Heaven.

Such an impressive buffet... complete with an ice sculpture.

This was a very beautiful head table.

And even the kid table had great details.  No detail was overlooked - big thanks to the team at JLK Weddings for their amazing attention to detail and carrying out Tressa's vision flawlessly!

Y'all... this was hanging from the ceiling over the dance floor... I can't wait for you to see what it looked like as the night went on.  Perfection!

Arrangements so big that Pigmint had to do them outside b/c they wouldn't fit through the door.  Wow!

And now maybe a sneak peek of what's to come in the next couple days?  Okay!
Spring made it just in time!

I love this kiss (and the ring bearer's reaction). So precious.

Ben and Tressa's Wedding Day Story

Hey everybody!

Tressa is a pretty special bride. We've been friends for so long, talking about her wedding for so long, I think I was nearly as excited as she was on Saturday. Our typical "wedding planning meetings" we had throughout this process lasted hours, as she painted picture after picture of her dream day in my mind.  I have to say, she (along with the team at JLK Weddings) made those painted pictures come to life.  It was a dream day!

The day started early, with Bo beautifying the bride and her girls.  Bo, who is one of my favorites, has become more of a friend than a fellow wedding vendor.  Every time I'm around him I feel like we leave being best friends.  (hey Bo, can I get some sort of confirmation from you today that this is true? haha!) Anyway, this kid is so fun! Here is he dancing with the darling bride, because that is what we do... dance with our darling brides!

Tressa told me that she wanted to jump on the bed with each of her bridesmaids. I thought it was such a cute idea (but I was like... won't your hair get messed up?)... we gave it a whirl.

It looked so fun that I made Mere hold my camera so I could jump too!  Don't worry, I took my shoes off.

Everybody's hair still looked great. :)  This group! {{{heart-eyes emoji!}}}

FAVORITE PART OF THE DAY COMING UP...
Then it was time for Tressa to get into her dress.  Nobody, except mom and Benfield Photography had seen the dress before, so the bride did a first look with her bridesmaids.  I made them cover their eyes as I brought her in, then counted to three... and...

Tressa's dress was had hanging strings of pearls from the back in honor of her late Grandma Pearl.  I love this moment as mom is looking on, emotionally, and her beautiful daughter.

Then it was time for Ben to see his sweet bride...

Ben, who is as big of a goofball as I've ever met, was all smiles as he saw his bride for the first time.

These two...

I didn't know this was going to happen... I just happened to be on-the-ready.  How cute are Ben and Tressa's dad?  High fives!!

I showed this image in yesterday's post. It's the perfect little kiss shot, complete with ring bearer looking away (kissing is gross, you know!)

How fun is this vintage car (thanks to the gang at Autumn Ridge Plantation for loaning it to our bride and groom for their getaway!)

Y'all... the reception is coming tomorrow! It was a PARTY, with a SPECIAL SURPRISE! Make sure to come back and see!

Hey everybody!

Party time!!! Not only was Tressa's wedding a dream, her reception was exceptional! JLK Weddings totally rocked this reception and made Tressa's vision come to life.  Fayetteville Town Center was totally transformed!

I LOOOOOVE the ring of hanging bead strands above the dance floor. It made such a statement!

And... this CAKE!  Y'all, it was taller than me!

Being a dad, I'm always drawn to cute kids at receptions... but y'all... it doesn't get cuter than this...

Al Paris provided the entertainment - it was super fun!

Ben and his boys love some good Michael Jackson... they even think they can dance like him.

Little did they know that Tressa had an MJ impersonator. This was a first for me, and it was SO FUN!

Three Benny Brides in this picture!  Haha! Love it!

Ben... getting DOWWWWWWN!

I could've gone on and one with these! SUCH a fun party!!  Guess what's coming tomorrow... PORTRAITS!!

Hey everybody!

It's Portrait Day! We were able to do two mini-portrait sessions with Ben and Tressa (I always love doing that when possible) because they had a first meeting, and their ceremony ended before the sun set! Spring is starting to bloom here in Fayetteville so pulling that into the images was exciting (after months of no color outside!).

This lighting... this color. Ahhh!!!  This is what happens when your day works out perfectly, y'all!!

Thanks again to Autumn Ridge Plantation for letting us use this car! It was a dream!

Brandon and Hope's Spring Engagement Portraits in Fayetteville

Hey everybody!

Timing is everything. Brandon and Hope have good timing, not just with their lovey-lovey relationship, but with their engagement portraits! It was the FIRST day I saw new blooms on the bushes in trees in Fayetteville, no doubt because of the last burst of rain that came the days before the shoot. Whatever the reason, I couldn't be happier because we found some gorgeous (yet totally random, if you saw where we stopped along the way!) spots that paired with Hope and Brandon's outfits. Oh, and a big shoutout to Bonnie for styling her sister for this shoot! More on her fashion/style/hair/makeup blog coming soon!

Y'all... I just ADORE spring!  Isn't this perfection?

Look at how they're looking at each other. Love love love.

S'sweet.

Oh, hey there Benny Backlight... nice to see you again!

This face is everything. Hope is so fun and cute!

Y'all, I might just have to do a 2nd post from this shoot; there were so many good ones!

Hey everybody!

One of my very first maternity clients years ago when I started shooting them was Holly! She's been a dear friend to us over the years and we've loved watching their family grow.  And now it's growing again!!  We recently photographed Holly's sweet belly (and family!). Have a look!

Momma and Scout. So presh.

Cutest belly ever, y'all!

Then I had to get some of my man doing his thing.

Then we gave Scout a modeling break and did a couple of the parents.

And alas... the whole family.  How sweet and perfect is this?!

Hey everybody!

I always have fun at photoshoots. I absolutely, positively, 100 percent LOOOOVE my job. At Candace and Josh's engagement shoot, I had even more fun than usual.  They were cracking me up and insisted on drinks between outfits/locations (thankfully I didn't have another shoot after... I would've hated to turn them down!). We chatted for about an hour after the shoot too!

All of this makes me INSANELY out-of-my-mind excited about their wedding at Excellence Playa Mujeres wedding this summer! Yay!!

Ashley and Rory's Spring Fayetteville Engagements

Hey everybody!

Sometimes, everything just works out right. I didn't think I was going to be able to shoot Ashley and Rory's wedding this August. My dates all booked up (you might have seen that on my instagram), but then one of my brides moved her destination wedding, opening up one of the two dates Ashley was looking at for her wedding. Everything just fell into place. I love when that happens.

Since her wedding is approaching quickly, we set her engagements right away and she made the drive from Little Rock (and he came from Alabama!) and we met at Crown Beauty Bar - Meredith hooked Ashley up with Bonnie (who is just the BEST!) for hair and makeup and then we were off to explore Fayetteville's spring weather. These two were so natural in front of the camera... an easy day at the office! Have a look at some faves!

Hey everybody!

Ashley and Rory are back for an encore presentation. :) They are a darling couple with a sweet story. She was a Diamond Doll; He was a pitcher. They made eye contact.  Now... all these years later, they are engaged. It's so precious how God works in our lives. He makes better plans for us than we ever could.

Shoutout to Bonnie for the hair/makeup - flawless!

Sunday Superthoughts: What's Bigger Than Love?

$
0
0

Hey everybody!

I had a friend ask me once, "What word is bigger than love?" She was trying to describe her feelings about something and love just didn't cut it. Saying the word "love" just didn't satisfy her inside. Have you ever felt that frustration? I have! I think it's a beautiful and frustrating feeling: when you fully and completely love someone, but you can't get the right words out to express the depth and breadth so they understand. It's as if, saying "I love you" or even "I love you so much" isn't even fair because everybody gets to say that and this, well... this is different.  This is more. This is much bigger than love.

The bible teaches us about agape love: a selfless, unconditional love. Agape is a sacrificial love. Agape love is how Jesus loves us and how he loved us when he died for us on the cross. There is no word, unfortunately, that is bigger than love. There is only the ultimate ability to love another sacrificially and more than your own self. Today on Easter I'm thankful for Jesus' agape love for me. I don't feel worthy of it... to let an innocent man (and the Son of the Creator) die on my behalf. How in the world would I be worthy of that? {I guess the key there is "in the world"}. Nevertheless, I'm so thankful for his complete love and answer to my sins.
---I should mention the other types of love, in case you're interested: eros love (physical, sensual love), philia love (friendship love), and storge love (parental love)

I wish the English language did have a word that meant "more than love" or "bigger than love" - if anyone comes up with one, I promise to only use it when I mean it, and would never overuse it (in fear of cheapening it).

Hope you had a happy Easter, friends!  And now, I'll show you some pictures of my storge (STOR-jay) love: my darling daughter Cece as the Ceester Bunny.

Sara and Toby's Wedding Portraits

Hey everybody!

Can NOT handle how precious these two are... these portraits are... I just have to start out my series on Sara and Toby's wedding day with these gems.

We were able to shoot to mini portrait sessions of them throughout the day. The first was around the cottage at Pratt Place Inn - it's so European feeling. Truly, like we stepped into Italy on a warm, Spring afternoon.

We also were able to shoot a few after the ceremony with our darling Benny Backlight.  Pratt Place is always a good candidate for Benny Backlight because of the way it sets (and the way the sun sets).

Over the coming days I'm going to have more from this wedding: details, ceremony, reception, and then MORE portraits! Yay! So excited, y'all!

Hey everybody!

Sara cried at least three times on her wedding day. Tears of joy flooded her eyes during the sweet times, which meant that she did a perfect job of being present in the moment! The rest of the time she was laughing and smiling (which meant the same)! When you look through today's images, notice how lovely our bride is!  Her Pratt Place wedding was filled with sweetness, from her beautiful bouquet to her emotional first meeting to her first kiss as a wife.  Have a look!

This picture is everything.

Sharing more tomorrow~ C'mon back!

Hey everybody!

I love a good party. Sara and Toby's wedding was a GOOOOOOD party! Filled with great music mixes from DJ Derrick, the entire group of wedding guests was on the dance floor the entire night. SO fun!  Our dearest Claudia Slezak ran the show so we know it was going to be a well oiled machine (and it was). The night was a complete success!

How cute are these two? I mean c'mon!

Sara and Toby choreographed a really sweet first dance!  I could watch them all night (which I did!)

The entire group was on the dance floor the entire night... which means I was hanging on or around the dance floor the entire night! My favorite!

Finger streamers for their leave was really fun!

Okay, y'all! I still have more from this wedding coming! Stay tuned!
