"What I Love About My Job"

Hey everybody!

As you might have seen, I volunteered last week for Art Feeds by going to a different elementary school each day and spending 30 minutes with each class talking about photography. Since Art Feeds gives "creative healing and encourages creative development" I made my lesson about how special photography can be. I've shared that message with nearly 1000 kiddos in the past week and now I want to share the same exact message with you.

I love my job for two reasons.
#1 - I get to be an artist for a living. So many people have difficulty making it as an artist, and I'm so fortunate that I'm able to provide for my family by being an artist. I get to get up in the morning, grab my camera, and head out into the world and make pretty pictures! (yeah, yeah... I know there's more to it than that, but humor me!)

#2 - I get to collect memories for my customers. My clients contact me to capture the special events in their lives. While to some that might be stressful, I love every second of it, and I'm honored to be a part of such amazing moments! I really enjoy capturing those real moments that families will cherish for generations. Another great part of capturing those moments is that I can look at an image (or you can look at an image of mine), and FEEL something. That's the powerful thing photography can do: make you FEEL.

Okay, then I went on to discuss a couple of my favorite moments I've photographed and had the kiddos discuss moments they'd want to photograph (to remember forever) from their lives. It was so fun and I heard some really amazing answers from these k-5 graders!

Talk to you soon,
Dale
