Hey everybody!

I have such a fun wedding (well... actually TWO) to show you of Kat and Sarang, who love to travel. They love traveling so much so that their American wedding had a travel theme, and their travel theme details are to-die-for! Today I'm going to share those with you, and tomorrow and Monday I'll share the other parts of her American, travel-themed wedding with you. (Then, I'll follow it up with their Indian wedding next week).

Enjoy their travel themed wedding details below!

Vintage Villas Austin Texas Wedding

Hey everybody!

Today we're sharing the storytelling photos from Kat and Sarang's travel-themed wedding at the Vintage Villas in Austin TX. It was a gorgeous, laid back kind of day as we pulled in to Vintage Villas, a really pretty place to get married in Austin that overlooks the lake.

Kat is so pretty, right?! Love her birdcage veil...

I love this sneaky shot I snagged at their first meeting. Cool, huh?

Isn't Vintage Villas so pretty?

Kat cried a little as she read her self-written vows to her new husband. So touching!

The reception was super cool and the dances were breathtaking!

Kat and Sarang played a hilarious round of the Newlywed Game after dinner. They both agree... Kat is the better cook. :)

I have a few portraits I wanna share tomorrow! And check out Austin Wedding Photographer Geoff Duncan's blog to see his images from the wedding as well!

Talk to you soon,
Dale

Foot Pictures // Our Tradition

Hey everybody!

Every time Mere and I travel somewhere, she always insists on a foot shot. I don't know what it is about these, but they've totally grown on me too! She has an entire facebook album of our feet... all over the world.

The latest addition to our foot collection is from our first trip to Austin, TX. There's a famous wall there... maybe you've seen it. Well, when we got there, we had company, and instead of asking them to move, we decided it would be a little more interesting to leave them there. I love our little traditions!

Hey everybody!

We love going home to Joplin. The place where Meredith and I grew up is such a great place and means so much to us, and it also means so much to our Bentonville couple Lindsay and Scott. Lindsay also grew up in Joplin (and Scott's was born in Joplin), so we were all thrilled to photograph there!

Stephanie and Mark's Joplin Engagement Session

Hey everybody!

I've known Stephanie for years, but when I met Mark in the parking lot of Starbucks in Joplin to start their engagement session, he introduced himself as "mock." Or, maybe, "mach." Not sure. Then, .5 seconds later I felt like a big doof because I remembered he (and Stephanie) live in England. Yeah... I'm a dummy.

Needless to say, my super-charm kicked in and I rebounded... haha! No, really though... we had a great time shooting! I think I spent more time laughing and joking with Mark than I did shooting. Is that wrong? :)

Since Stephanie grew up in Joplin, we chose some places that were sentimental to her: The Christman building that bears her family's last name, and the park by the house she used to live in. I love when sessions can be personal like that!

Here are my favorites from the shoot! I know it's more than I usually post, but I couldn't help it!

Benny Brides Tell All: Shiloh!

Hey everybody!

Meredith and I are in the Dominican Republic this week shooting some cool stuff (can't wait to show you!), and since I'm a planner-aheader, I enlisted some fabulous Benny Brides to help keep the blog streak alive amidst my spotty internet. I'm having guest bloggers who are previous Benfield brides share their favorite wedding image and tell us why. Fun! I hope you enjoy!

I think it is fair to say that if you are a Benfield Bride & Groom it is nearly impossible to select your favorite wedding photo. Jonathan and I love every single photo from our wedding day, but if we have to choose just one image, it would be this one...

This photo was taken just after our ceremony. We had a few minutes alone to see the inside of Pratt Place (finally!!) before the reception and we were absolutely blown away. It was incredible. The photo captures every word that we would use to describe our wedding day: gorgeous, rustic, elegant and southern. And, the lighting is amazing. Everything is glowing!!! Love it.

Wow! It was very hard for me to narrow down my favorite picture from our wedding day. Dale and Meredith did such an amazing job of capturing every single moment from our day. BUT if I had to pick one, I would say my favorite image would have to be Steven and I walking down the aisle immediately after we exchanged our vows. I believe Mere shot this from our church balcony and it makes my heart melt every time I look at it.

Not only is it an amazing picture (all props to Mere), but I think it really embodies our relationship and how truly happy we are together. I also love it because it is not posed and we had no idea the picture was even being taken. Dale and Meredith have such a talent of capturing sweet moments throughout the day. When looking back at all of the images from our wedding day, it is almost like we are reliving the entire experience.

First, off it goes without saying how much I love Dale and Meredith...SO when they asked me to be a guest blogger I naturally jumped at the opportunity! I don't have to tell you guys how amazing their work is because clearly it speaks for itself but their quirky personalities and fun sense of humor is the shimmery icing on the wedding cake. I could not have asked for better people to photograph our wedding, engagements, and bridals!

My favorite portrait from my bridal session was taken on Times Square in New York City and if you know me you know how much I love NYC! Every time I see this picture it literally makes my heart happy because I feel like they captured the essence of my personality and style...very Carrie Bradshaw if I must say so myself! It was a dream come true to take my bridals in the best city in the world with the best photographers. This is a memory I'll remember always.

Those of you who know me, know I kinda have a thing for shoes. So, of course, they were an important detail to me on my wedding day. Kurt is a very laid back guy and I knew he would hate formal shoes, so we decided to go with Converse for the guys. I had been dying for a pair of Christian Louboutins, so what better day to wear them than my wedding day! But I figured there would be no way I could last all night in them so I also got some yellow converse. I'm telling you all this as the backstory of how my favorite image of the night (and possibly ever) came to be. Since I knew at some point I would be changing into the Converse, I wanted to do two mini portrait sessions, One right after the ceremony in my Loubs and the other we snuck out of the reception for a while in my Converse.

I love this image because it captures the day so perfectly. It is the perfect mix of the timeless portrait and the fun candid shot. It reminds me of the beautiful setting, how happy we are to be husband and wife, how much we love each other and how absolutely perfect the day was. I can't help but smile every time I look at this picture. It sums up the best day of my life! I still don't feel like I can thank Dale and Mere enough for their amazing talent and for pictures I will cherish for the rest of my life!

Dale and Mere are such amazing photographers! They captured so many sweet and precious moments at our wedding. If I had to choose a favorite, it would be this one of Taylor and I! Everytime I look at this picture it makes me smile. It captures the all of the joy and excitement we felt on our wedding day! We had waited so long for this day to come, and we both felt like it was kind of a fairy tale while taking these pictures together. All else aside, I can't help but love my husband's cute dimples in this pic!

Hey everybody!

Get ready for some color!! After all, that's my favorite part of photographing Indian wedding details!
This first set is of the lovely bride, Kat, getting ready. There were so many details to her Indian outfit and makeup and Indian jewelry that I thought it deserved it's own detail collage!!

Hey everybody!

I'm finishing out Kat and Sarang's colorful Indian wedding today with some stunning portraits - we literally had FIVE minutes (that's not usual... we typically spend about 30 with the couple on the wedding day for the couple portraits) with them and someone was over our shoulders announcing the time as it ticked away.

Good thing we work fast!!!
We shot right outside the temple and quickly captured some keepers (oh how I love alliteration).

Amanda and Ryan's Fayetteville Engagement Portraits

Hey everybody!

It's pretty-light time! I love shooting in April because the weather is so gorgeous and it's warm enough to get some gorgeous light without freezing your toes off! It's also engagement shoot season, which is a perfect duo... just like today's couple! (Was that a cheesy segue or what?!?! Haha!) Ryan and Amanda are as classically sweet as they come! We shot around Fayetteville for their engagements, and I just adore their images!! Have a look!
Oh! I forgot to mention - pay attention to their clothing choices - I think Amanda and Ryan did a really great job choosing clothes that coordinated without being too matchy - and of course Spring loves color! (and so do I!)

Let's Get Baby Fever!

Hey everybody!

If you're on Instagram, chances are you've seen this insanely adorable baby with a head of hair that'll make most grown men cry (I know... I've cried). One look at sweet little Iris and something in Mere started itching... yep, the baby itch!

I don't know how many babies will be born because of the cuteness of one, but we in Fayetteville might just have a baby boom since her momma started posting daily pics of the little sweetie.

We recently photographed Iris for her 6mo portraits, and it was so... SO hard not to throw down my camera, pick up the baby, and run away as fast as I can. Somehow, though, I seemed to manage, which is good because I wouldn't fare well in prison. :)

Have a peek at some of my favorites from the session... and try to keep your baby fever at bay.

Punta Cana Underwater Bridal Couple Portraits

Hey everybody!!

I have such an incredible shoot to show you today!  I've been teasing these underwater bridal couple portraits that we photographed in Punta Cana on my instagram and facebook, and now the entire post is ready!

Katya and Rob were such amazing hosts while we were in the Dominican for their wedding, and we were so happy to treat them to an underwater adventure for their couple's portraits.  Katya donned her wedding dress (which is TO DIE FOR, by the way), and we headed off to a fresh water lagoon, underwater housing in hand to dive deep for some sublime and out-of-the-ordinary wedding portraits!

When you're underwater... mostly all you think about is, "DON'T DIE!" which of course is helpful... unless you're taking portraits underwater.  What makes this tough is that while I'm underwater I have to remember f-stops, shutter speeds, isos, focusing, lighting, and of course composition.  What makes it tough for the bride and groom under water is that they have to think, "shoulders back, cheeks puckered, keep the profile, don't cover faces, and so on.

I'm not gonna lie... it's tricky shooting underwater!

But the results we captured are breathtaking.
