First Look? A Bride Gives Her Perspective

Hey Friends!

Benny Bride Ashlee here! I just wanted to take a quick moment to talk about one of the decisions that I had the toughest time with when I was planning my wedding. To see or not to see.... the first look!

I consider myself a pretty traditional bride. I wanted the southern church wedding, the dinner, the dance, the traditions. We opted for traditional vows; there was just something so romantic to me about saying vows that have been said by so many other couples that we look up to.

I thought that as a traditional bride I wanted to follow all traditions... including not seeing my future hubby until I walked down the aisle.

Dale and Mere do a fabulous job at capturing the down the aisle pictures. The picture they took of Tiago as he was seeing me for the first time is one of my absolute favorites from the day. However, they do a fabulous job at first look pictures as well! I know y'all know what I'm talking about!

If I could do it all over I think I would opt for a first look. I lovelovelove my pictures but I was a blubbering mess as I walked down the aisle. I think a few minutes of alone time with my very soon to be hubby and maybe a hug and forehead kiss would have eased my butterflies. I loved the first moment I saw Tiago through the windows at the back of the church but I had no idea that I was going to ugly cry the whole way down the aisle. Oh and another thing... if you take your pictures before the ceremony you get to the reception earlier and may even make it to cocktail hour, if your having one. I heard we missed out on some yummy appetizers and wonderful music and visiting!

If you're like I was and you just love all things traditional, you should think about exchanging gifts or letters before the wedding. We exchanged gifts and stood on different sides of the bell tower outside the church, so we couldn't see each other. It was so nice to get to talk and hold hands after a long day of wedding prep.

Happy wedding planning!!
